Simona Halep Aspires To Emulate Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon Records

The new Wimbledon champion, Simona Halep hit her knees on Centre Court last week, in as she eliminated the seventh-time Wimbledon champion, Serena Williams in less than an hour. At Wimbledon’s ball, she shared the stage with the men’s champion, Novak Djokovic and the Romanian World Number seven, looks forward to winning multiple Venus Rosewater Dishes.

“I hope I can,” she said when asked about on winning Wimbledon again. Halep believes that she can be a multiple-time Wimbledon champion like the World Number one tennis player, Djokovic.

“I have to ask him how he did it,” Simona Halep referred to Djokovic’s fifth title at Wimbledon. “I know it took a lot of work and he’s a great champion. So congratulations for everything you have done and good luck with the new records.”

She played the biggest match of her career at SW19 and her court coverage during the last Saturday’s final against Williams was simply surreal. “I always learn from the champions and I try to get better as much as possible and being relaxed on court, I have learned that there are better chances to win big matches,” she said at Wimbledon’s champions dinner.

Two-time Grand Slam champion, Simona Halep grew up playing on the clay courts of Romania and she mentioned about her nation not having any grass courts and she mentioned that she learned to play grass-court tennis at Wimbledon.

Romania’s pride, Simona Halep sets her next big goal in tennis upon her homecoming after her SW19 triumph. For the Tokyo Olympics, she decides to take part in all three events (singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles) and assures a medal for Romania.

After Simona’s victorious outcome in London, the Romanian Olympic Committee declared her to be the flag bearer for Romania at the 2020 Olympics Games.

Her prowess at Wimbledon Championships 2019 has also earned her the Order of the Star of Romania (the highest award of the Romanian State) from the Romanian presidential administration. Wimbledon was Halep’s first title of the 2019 season and before this, she won at Rogers Cup 2018.
