Simona Halep Hits Back at False Wedding Rumors

Former World Number one tennis player, Simona Halep cleared out the air about her rumored-wedding news with her millionaire boyfriend, Toni Iuruc. “Contrary to reports in the Romanian media, I wanted to confirm that I am neither engaged nor is the wedding date set,” Simona Halep announced.

“While I appreciate that I lead a life that puts me in the public eye, rumors about my private life are incorrect and disappointing so I wanted to assure my fans with this message that the rumors are false. I will be sure to share any happy news with you about future engagement! Thanks for your loyal support, Simo” she added.

Earlier, one of her friends stated that Simona Halep is set to get married after the US Open 2020 and their wedding will take place in Halep’s home town Constanta, Romania. Also, a sports journalist from Romania, Decebal Radulescu announced Simona’s wedding next year on Facebook and Halep confirmed the fallacy in the news.

The fourth richest female athlete in the world, Simona Halep’s boyfriend owns six companies in Romania. He is from North Macedonia and he also has connections in the upper echelons of the Romanian society. After concluding the season with the Wimbledon title and a World Number four ranking, Halep vacationed in Maldives with her boyfriend, Iuruc.

In 2020, Halep will be giving her 100 percent in all four Slams, also she is aiming for a medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020. As a practice for the Olympics, Halep will be playing in the doubles disciplines during Grand Slams. In Tokyo, she is enrolled in all three categories and is determined to attain a medal for her country.

This year, Simona Halep won 43 of the 60 matches and drew a salary close to USD 7 million worth of prize money from the WTA circuit. In 2019, she won her second Grand Slam title of her career, Wimbledon. Presently, Halep is in the race for WTA player of the year.

Alongside Halep, the Canadian breeze, Bianca Andreescu who amazed the tennis world in Indian Wells is also in the race. After her show-stopping performance in California,  Andreescu declared herself as the hometown hero in Toronto and in September she held her first Slam in New York.

She won 48 matches to 7 losses this year and earned prize money of USD 6.5 million. The French Open champion and the World Number one, Ashleigh Barty is also in the race for WTA player of the year.
