Amid Barcelona’s Corruption Scandal and Shakira Saga, Gerard Pique Given 10 Days to Deliver Important Document by Spanish Court

It looks like there is not an ordinary day in the life of former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique. Since his breakup with Shakira in June last year, the soccer star is in the headlines almost every day. Separation with Shakira, new girlfriend, children custody, diss track, retirement, Barcelona scandal, Kings League saga, and now the Spanish court has asked his company to submit contract details around Spanish Super Cup.
Nothing is going right for the former Spanish World Cup winner. The Spanish court in Majadahonda started an investigation against Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales for alleged irregularities. As part of the investigation, Kosmos, the company owned by Pique, was asked to submit the contract documentation with the Spanish federation to the court within ten days.

Spanish court to investigate company owned by Gerard Pique
The Spanish media outlets reported last year that Pique has made millions in commission by moving the Spanish Super Cup tournament to Saudi Arabia. His company Kosmos signed a contract with the Spanish Federation to move the tournament to the gulf nation. The complainant alleged the president of the federation and Pique’s company of obtaining commissions for moving the tourney outside Spain.

The court has already asked the Federation to submit the accounts for 2020 in January this year. Now, as part of further investigation, they want to study the contract signed between Kosmos and Spanish Federation. As a result, they have given the time of ten days to Pique and Kosmos to submit the necessary contract documents to the court. It comes as a significant setback for the former defender.

The court that is handling the case is also looking at various documents. They are examining the invoices between the Federation and Saudi Arabia. Also, they are investigating the sale of broadcasting rights of the domestic competition Copa del Rey in African countries. It will be interesting to see the outcomes of the investigation. All this news is coming amid another scandal that has hit Spanish soccer.

A few days back, news broke regarding Barcelona paying millions to the company owned by the Spanish referee. Moreover, the referee was vice-president of the Spanish Referee committee when the payments were made between 2001 to 2018. Additionally, on Friday, the Spanish Prosecutor charged the Catalan club with corruption charges.
It comes as a massive setback for the club. The Prosecutor also charged two former Barcelona presidents in the scandal, and detailed investigations have started. The investigation will reveal the fate of the current La Liga leaders.
