Columbian pop star Shakira and her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique were once one of the most influential celebrity couples. They were right there on the list along with David Beckham and Victoria Beckham. However, where the English soccer star and the Spice Girls member showed fans how to handle relationships, Shakira and Pique went on a different path. It’s getting ugly, first with indirect jabs, then Shakira finding out she might have got cheated on, and more jabs towards each other.

After being together for 12 years, the celebrity couple surprised fans by announcing their separation. The stars met during the 2010 world cup and started dating. The equation of this breakup is slightly more complicated as there are 2 kids involved. From a fan-favorite couple to taking shots at each other any moment they get, fans are finding it hard to process what they are watching.

In one of her recent songs, Shakira took a shot at her ex-boyfriend and father of her two kids, Gerard Pique. In a bar that would get the attention of fans, various brands, and Pique, she metaphorically compared herself with Pique’s new girlfriend. The translation of that line is, “You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo… You traded a Rolex for a Casio…“

Every fan can easily see why this is a direct shot at Pique and his girlfriend Clara Chia Marti. This line got the attention of the man himself, Gerard Pique. In one of his live sessions, he said, “We have Casio watches for all the Presidents of the Kings League teams! Everyone, take your watch.” He said this while showing a Casio watch he was wearing.

The relationship certainly seems to have mutated into a petty back and forth. However, a couple of brands mentioned by Shakira had a field day responding to their lines by her.

Casio and Renault responded to the lines

After getting mentioned by pop star Shakira, these two brands didn’t let it go that easily. They got a chance to cash on the hype and troll the pop star at the same time.  Casio was quick to respond and quite frankly, had the mildest yet most effective reply to the mention.

They tweeted, “Today we have quite a few notifications for a mention of CASIO in a song… CASIO (watches and keyboards) and (calculators) are from and for life.” While, Renault also Tweeted a picture of Twigo saying, “For guys and girls like you. Turn up the volume!“
