“Sack Everyone Involved” – Spanish Soccer Team Brutally Fail to Emulate Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez’s Iconic Goal Leaving Fans in Stitches

Soccer players sometimes innovate things to catch the opposition off-guard. It has given many innovative techniques to the sport, like the rabona kick, trivela kick, and rainbow kick, amongst others. Sometimes, players innovate penalty kicks to shock the opponent, and that’s what we saw recently in a La Liga game between Rayo Vallecano and Girona. Rayo players tried to emulate Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in their attempt to score from the spot.

However, the players failed miserably in their attempt to emulate Messi and Suarez. The fans took to social media to troll the players after the game. It cost Rayo three points as Girona held them to a 2-2 draw. When Messi and Suarez tried it, the latter scored the goal efficiently.

Fans troll Rayo Vallecano players who tried to copy Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez

The moment the video of the shock penalty emerged on social media, the fans were quick to troll the players. It was during the initial half when the referee gave Rayo a penalty. Oscar Trejo stepped up but saw his attempt saved by Girona’s goalkeeper. However, the referee asked to retake the penalty. 

In his second attempt, Trejo laid the ball to his teammate Isi Palazon from the spot. Palazon tried to place it in the top right corner but failed miserably, and the ball went over the bars. The video emerged on Twitter, and one user wrote“Sack everyone involved.”

A few fans reminded that they tried to replicate the play of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. On the other hand, one fan posted a video of how Messi and Suarez did it perfectly, mentioning the way to do it.

Some of the fans slammed the players for the poor execution. A few of them labeled it as a stinker.

One of the fans questioned the players for taking the decision when they were just 2-1 up against Girona.

Rayo was at home to 12th-placed Girona on Saturday. Their star man Palazon gave them a deserved lead in the 23rd minute. However, Girona equalized six minutes later. It took only five minutes for Rayo to restore their advantage through Trejo.

Meanwhile, Rayo missed a golden opportunity in the 41st minute after missing the retaken penalty when Palazon skied the ball from Trejo’s lay-off. Girona punished them for their mistake and scored in the 52nd minute to level the score and get the point from the game.
