Struggling English Team Watford’s Staff ‘Go to McDonalds’ Following Shock Pay Cut

Watford is one of the most renowned clubs in English soccer. The club may not have won the Premier League but has enjoyed several seasons in the top flight. However, mostly they’ve played in the lower English divisions.

The 21/22 season was the last time Watford played in the Premier League. However, they got relegated to the second division at the end of the season. As of today’s date, the Hornets are having a tumultuous season in the Sky Bet Championship so far. The club is currently sitting in tenth place in the second division.

Watford players and staff visit McDonald’s

Besides struggling in the league, Watford is also struggling financially. The club is in poor financial condition, and COVID has affected them even more. Therefore, in an attempt to balance their books, the club has reduced the wages of players and staff by $300.

The club has attributed this decision as a contribution to the food they eat at the training ground. This has left all of Watford’s players and staff angry as the club took this decision, without even informing them.

Furthermore, this decision left everyone at the club baffled, and some employees expressed their frustration by eating food at the American food chain, McDonald’s. The English club has made wholesale changes in a bid to return to the Premier League.

Preparation for Premier League return begins

While the club is dealing with several dilemmas, Watford has already started to think about a promotion to the first division. Hence, in an attempt to change its fortunes, they have sacked Slaven Bilic.

The club was struggling under the Croatian after winning just one game in eight matches. Hence, they sacked the gaffer in just six months. In fact, the club has even found a new replacement as the Golden boys announced Chris Wilder as the new manager.

The former Sheffield United and Middlesbrough coach has been appointed until the end of the season. Wilder played a crucial role in Sheffield’s historic run in the Premier League campaign. He’ll be looking to rejuvenate this side and turn their fortunes around.

It’s unlikely that Watford will gain promotion, as they are 26 points behind league leaders Burnley. However, they’ll want to get back to winning ways.
