Natalie Portman discussed the origin behind the idea to create a soccer team. “Watching my son idolize players like Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan the same way he did Lionel Messi or Karim Benzema, I realized that amplifying female athletes could rapidly shift culture,” Portman tells the Guardian by email.”- Natalie wrote in an E-mail sent to The Guardian.

It’s evident that Natalie Portman’s son is not the only one who has been inspired by watching Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan play. These two women have helped to change the landscape of soccer, and they will continue to do so for years to come.
