Talking about gearing up, Nike had re-signed a long-term deal with the US Soccer Federation for being the official kit sponsor for the team. This was reported to be the largest such agreement in the history of the US Soccer Federation. Some facts about this deal and Lionel Messi will blow your mind.

Nike is one of the biggest names when it comes to sports merchandise. They were the first ones to have a lifelong deal with Michael Jordan and that deal is still making Nike unbelievable stacks of money. In soccer, they have a similar deal with Cristiano Ronaldo.

USA soccer makes more than Argentina

It is a fact that most would consider a lie. USA soccer team makes more money from its kit sponsor in a year than World Cup winners Argentina does, despite having arguably the biggest name in soccer of all time. The numbers around this fact aren’t even close to what one would guess.

According to the reports, the USA gets around 34.6 million USD annually from the kit deal with Nike. The South American soccer behemoth Argentina only gets 13.1 million USD in a year. This number is less than half of what the USA is getting.

None of these deals would even come closer to the Argentinian goal machine Lionel Messi. The guy has a deal in place with Adidas which reportedly makes him around 27 million dollars a year.

This number is unbelievable. Lionel Messi alone in a separate deal with Adidas is getting more than double what the Argentinian national team is making. Somehow this is understandable, but USA Soccer getting more than double what World Champions Argentina is getting will definitely blow some brains.
