It is no secret at this point that Ryan Reynolds, star of Deadpool, has long been interested in owning the Ottawa Senators, a Canadian NHL team. This intent has come after his track record of success with the Welsh soccer club Wrexham AFC. Ryan Reynolds became the co-owner of Wrexham back in 2020 and has fully changed the dynamic of this once-struggling soccer club.

It looks like Reynolds has no intention of stopping and wants to invest in other sports as well. In recent news, it was announced that Reynolds has entered the bidding process to become the new owner of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators.

The bidding for the new owner of the Ottawa Senators has started. According to reports, nine different groups have submitted their bid. Ryan Reynolds, as part of a consortium known as The Remington Group, is also one of the bidders for the team.

The Senators are currently valued at around $800 million, but some speculate that the team could be sold for over $900 million. The sale is being conducted by the family of late owner Eugene Melnyk, who died in March last year.

Reynolds is no stranger to taking risks. In 2020, he and Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham AFC, a then-struggling Welsh soccer team. Through their innovative and unorthodox methods, they turned the team around. With this, they have been successful at making it one of the most popular soccer clubs in Wales. Now, Reynolds is looking to replicate that success with the Ottawa Senators that are currently facing many challenges.

Reynolds has planned to chronicle the story of his potential franchise through a reality TV series similar to his ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ show. That series followed Reynolds and McElhenney as they attempted to revitalize the club. The series was a success, and it helped increase the popularity of the club. Should he assume ownership of the Senators, Reynolds hopes to replicate this approach in telling their story.
