Moussa N’Diaye came out as the worst affected player from the tackle. After receiving the treatment on the field, N’Diaye was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The Hyeres midfielder is stable now but will undergo a few tests to know the exact extent of the injury.

Marseille had to play the remaining 75 minutes of the game with ten men after the Bailly red card. However, strikes from former Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez (45+1′) and Bamba Dieng (70′) were sufficient for the former UEFA Champions League winners to progress to the next round.

Eric Bailly played with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United

Bailly is currently on a season-long loan with Marseille from Manchester United. United signed the defender in 2016 from Spanish club Villarreal. It was the first signing of Jose Mourinho’s stint at United.

However, the player with inconsistency and injuries was limited to the bench at United. The African Cup of Nations winner in 2015 had some disciplinary issues earlier on the field. The referee sent him off in his UEFA Europa League debut with Villarreal. Bailly also received another red card for hitting a Celta Vigo player in the face, when United took on the Spanish club in the Europa League semi-final in 2017.

The defender was subject to several injuries missing the majority of the games at the United. His two major injuries kept the player out of action for nearly 269 days missing 53 games. Bailly missed 169 days of action after knee surgery on July 25, 2019.
