While United have struggled domestically in the league, Ronaldo’s goals and performances have left little room for criticism. The Portuguese has been one of the few shining lights amidst a shaky start to the season.

United are currently sixth in the table, after losing two and drawing two of their first eight games. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is facing increasing pressure from the fans as they expect a squad like United’s to compete for the top spot.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Ronaldo talked about the speech he gave to the Manchester United dressing room upon his arrival.

“I said what I felt in that moment, that I’m here to win. I’m not here for (the) holidays. So, what I say to them, I see huge potential in this team. Very young players, very potential players,” the forward said.

After Ronaldo praised United’s youngsters, he revealed that he wants to “build up new stuff,” with the team. “I’m here to help the team build up new stuff. I don’t remember all the other stuff, but it was a good speech,” he added.
