‘I’m Not Here for Holidays’ – Cristiano Ronaldo Reveals What He Told Manchester United Locker Room on Arrival

Cristiano Ronaldo has set the stage on fire after his return to boyhood club Manchester United. While United have struggled domestically in the league, Ronaldo’s goals and performances have left little room for criticism. The Portuguese has been one of the few shining lights amidst a shaky start to the season.

United are currently sixth in the table, after losing two and drawing two of their first eight games. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is facing increasing pressure from the fans as they expect a squad like United’s to compete for the top spot.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Ronaldo talked about the speech he gave to the Manchester United dressing room upon his arrival.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to help the team do something new

I said what I felt in that moment, that I’m here to win. I’m not here for (the) holidays. So, what I say to them, I see huge potential in this team. Very young players, very potential players,” the forward said.

After Ronaldo praised United’s youngsters, he revealed that he wants to “build up new stuff,” with the team. “I’m here to help the team build up new stuff. I don’t remember all the other stuff, but it was a good speech,” he added.

However, the youngsters have had a mixed start to the season. Marcus Rashford underwent surgery for his shoulder and has only started to play now. New signing Jadon Sancho has had an uncomfortable start to his Manchester United career as well after he has failed to score or assist in the league.

Mason Greenwood – United’s shining star

Despite the troubles that the rest of the team is facing, Mason Greenwood has been absolutely brilliant for the club. Greenwood has scored four goals this season in the Premier League. He is starting to grow in confidence and is taking more shots.

His contributions have added to Ronaldo’s three Premier League goals in five matches. However, Cristiano Ronaldo has stepped up in the UEFA Champions League and scored three goals in three matches to help United top the group, so far.

Things need to improve for the Reds domestically, but Ronaldo has proven he is indeed here to take over.
