‘Never Interested’ – Emile Smith Rowe Reveals He Rejected Rivals Tottenham Hotspur for Arsenal

Arsenal FC has always had one of the best academies in England, with another Hale End product now made his way to the England squad. Emile Smith Rowe, at just 21, has set the Premier League on fire since his breakthrough in the first team.

Smith Rowe has represented England at all youth levels and has been capped for the U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 teams. However, the Englishman has now taken his game to the next level. In the 2021-22 season, Smith Rowe has played 11 matches for Arsenal and has bagged four goals and two assists for the gunners.

Emile Smith Rowe talks about Tottenham Hotspur being interested in him

He recently signed a new deal with Arsenal that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until 2026. In a recent interview with the Guardian, Smith Rowe revealed that Arsenal’s fierce rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, were interested in the youngster when he was a teenager.

Tottenham wanted me when I was 15 or 16 but, as an Arsenal fan, I was never interested. I joined Arsenal at 10 and I was determined to make the grade at my club,” Emile Smith Rowe said.

The Englishman has made his dream come true as Arsenal fans now adore him and he has proven himself on the big stages. Smith Rowe’s England debut is not too far and it will surely be a glimpse of what the youngster can do for the National side.

Smith Rowe was rejected by Chelsea when he was a kid.

The Gunner also talked about the time when he went on trial at another London club, Chelsea. Not selected at the trial though, he was surely disappointed then, but it has all gone well since for Smith Rowe.

Yes, before I went to Arsenal, I went on trial at Chelsea through one of my teammates at my local team. He was on trial there already and he put in a word for me. I don’t know how he managed it but I got a trial at Chelsea but I didn’t get in,” he revealed.
