On Saturday, in a highly-anticipated pay-per-view event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Gervonta Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) faced off in a catchweight bout at 136 pounds.
Gervonta Davis 28-year-old WBA lightweight champion, and Garcia, the 24-year-old former WBC interim lightweight champion.
7- Round: Garcia lands a right as he marches Davis to the corner. Davis starts rifling his left out there to keep Garcia honest. Davis lands a straight left. Garcia opens up and a high left connects. They exchange punches and Davis lands to the body. Garcia pauses then steps back and takes a knee. He’s hurt. Referee gets to 10 and waves this one off. No complaint from Garcia who didn’t look like he was going to recover.
In Round 7, Davis knocked out Garcia with a body shot, forcing Garcia to take a knee and not get up before being counted out. Davis landed a straight left to the right side of Garcia, causing him to turn away from Davis and stay down in pain.
