A shoey is the act of drinking an alcoholic beverage from a shoe and is particularly popular in Australia. And the Perth-born driver Daniel Ricciardo introduced this trend to F1 in 2016.

Daniel Ricciardo introduced the shoey celebration to Formula 1 back in 2016. In his 100th race at the pinnacle of motor racing, Ricciardo finished second and performed a champagne shoey.
After finishing third, Daniel Ricciardo forced Scottish actor, Gerard Butler, to perform a shoey. However, Butler didn't drink the champagne, instead substituting Red Bull energy drink for the stunt.
Daniel Ricciardo, who finished third for Red Bull, behind Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, performed a shoey with Star Trek and X-Men fame, Sir Patrick Stewart, who was covering the podium interviews.
Ricciardo forgets to perform his trademark celebration after winning his first podium with Renault. But three weeks later the Australian was again on the podium and this time he celebrated with Hamilton, who once said that he would never do a shoey.
Daniel Ricciardo celebrated his first win for McLaren and his first Formula 1 victory since 2018 in typical style, doing a shoey on the podium. McLaren CEO Zak Brown and Lando Norris also took the drink out of Ricciardo’s shoe.
