After a long summer break, Formula 1 finally returns this week for round 12 of the Belgian Grand Prix.
So let’s take a look at some of the craziest moments that took place at Spa-Francorchamps.
Hamilton started from pole position alongside title rival Massa. After Lewis spun, Räikkönen led until the third last lap, after Hamilton performed the penalized pass. Massa won the race after the initial winner, Hamilton was penalized for cutting a chicane and gaining an advantage over Räikkönen.
Hakkinen leads the race until lap 13 when he spun and gave Schumacher the lead. By lap 34, Michael’s tire started to degrade, which allowed Hakkinen to close the gap. On lap 41, the Finn made a splendid move to overtake both Schumacher and Ricardo Zonta.
The race ran entirely in extremely wet weather, and on the first lap David Coulthard lost control of his McLaren, causing a multiple collision involving thirteen drivers, which led to the race being stopped.
Giancarlo Fisichella of Force India secured his second pole position after the 2006 Malaysian GP. The Italian finished behind Raikkonen to finish second and gave Force India their first-ever championship points and their first podium.
On lap 16, Vettel suddenly switched to the outside line and lost control of his car by hitting a bump on the damp circuit as he was unable to correct an opposite lock at high speed and struck the sidepod of Button's car, exposing its radiator and causing Button's retirement.
