‘Golf Drama’: Bryson DeChambeau Stirs a Massive Sponsorship Controversy At the Ongoing Saudi PIF International

Athletes often gain further recognition through their sponsors. It would also not be too farfetched to say that a sponsor could make or break one’s career. Hence, many pros in the golf world were dismayed when they lost most of their sponsors when jumping ship from the Tour to LIV. But some sponsors still stuck with players, and one such player was Bryson DeChambeau. But how true was that? Recent news about him suggests that things may be different from what the golf world initially thought.

Bryson DeChambeau ignites a sponsor controversy.

As per a recent GolfWeek article, the one-time major winner has been spotted using a new driver at this week’s event. The golfer is still assumed to be an ambassador of Cobra since his name has not yet been taken down from their site. But his move now suggests otherwise.

What is DeChambeau using now?

At the Asian Tour event, the Scientist is using a TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus+ as opposed to his new Cobra Aerojet driver or one of the LTDx or Radspeed drivers that he has used in the past. Known to be one of the longest drivers in pro golf, the 8-time PGA Tour winner’s current TaylorMade driver is also fitted with a Project X T1100 shaft. The golf pro has a company called LA Golf that has its own line of shafts. Hence, him using another company’s shaft compared to LA Golf’s speaks volumes to the public.

Golf world reacts to DeChambeau’s driver choice.

DeChambeau has sparked a major sponsorship controversy with his recent equipment selection. Many are wondering whether he has cut ties with Cobra. Fans even suggested that now Cobra was more appealing without him being a part of it.

Fans are also curious to know the golf pro’s exact relationship with LA Golf. The fact that he was using another shaft was baffling.

One fan even suggested that this was just “golf drama.”
