Last month the PGA Tour revealed a massive increase in the total prize purse for the season. The Players Championship has been bumped to total prize money of $20M, and the FedExCup prize pool will surge from $60M in 2021 to $75M in 2022 among other changes.
The DP World Tour (formerly known as the European Tour) announced massive changes starting from the 2021-22 season. The tour is in its 50th edition and has majorly upgraded total prize money given across the season.
The 2021-22 PGA Tour season boasts a total prize pool of $427 million. This is a significant increase from last year as the improvement is nearly $60M. Several other tournaments also benefit from this prize money surge.
While the PGA Tour boasts a lucrative prize pool for the season, the DP World Tour is not far behind. The DP World Tour will award a sum exceeding $200M across 47 tournaments. The tour’s CEO Keith Pelley confirmed the news in November.
From the looks of the total prize money awarded, the PGA Tour is clearly ahead in this race. However, the DP World Tour has just received a massive bump due to the sponsorship deal. Both tours host exciting tournaments nonetheless!
