“One thing that really p***ed me off was how he would flippantly toss a club in the general direction of the bag,” Williams revealed. “Expecting me to go over and pick it up.”
According to Williams, he felt “uneasy” picking up the clubs that Woods flung towards the bag. “It was like I was his slave,” he added. Williams carried Woods’ bag for more than 10 years. As a result, the caddie knows the golfer inside out and has found more than one thing he does that “p***es” him off!
“The other thing that disgusted me,” Williams wrote in his book. “Was his habit of spitting at the hole if he missed a putt.”
Notably, Tiger Woods was once fined and heavily criticized for spitting on a golf course during a DP World Tour event. However, he didn’t spit in the hole like Williams suggested; the World Golf Hall of Famer did it on the green.
Steve Williams worked with Woods from 1999 until the golfer fired him in 2011. In this period, the former world no. 1 won 70+ titles worldwide, including 13 majors and 16 World Golf Championship titles. Notably, the 2014 Caddie Hall of Famer assisted Woods to win his legendary Tiger Slam, winning all majors in a row.
