However, the determination of Judy Thompson to not let her children give up their career path due to her illness helped the golfer to play again.
“I want all my children to continue with what their dreams are,” the LPGA player’s mother said while attending her daughter’s event at the US Women’s Open in July, a month after her operation. “Life can’t stop,” she added.
It was not the first time Judy Thompson was diagnosed with cancer. She had breast cancer 11 years before she got uterine cancer. The medical process would have made 1-time major champion’s mother wait another couple months after the diagnosis before getting treatment.
With the help of another LPGA player, Morgan Pressel, she got the treatment and could remove the cancer in only a week. Notably, Pressel lost her mother to breast cancer when she was only 15 and had started a foundation to raise awareness and money to fight it. Although she was battling a chronic disease, Judy Thomspon didn’t want Thompson and her siblings to not focus on their careers.
Lexi Thompson, the 11-time LPGA Tour champion, is the youngest among the three children of Judy and Scott Thompson. She has two brothers, Nicholas and Curtis Thompson, all of them professional golfers.
