What Is Next for Sean O’Malley After a No-Contest Win Over Pedro Munhoz?

Sean O'Malley took on arguably his biggest test to date in Pedro Munhoz, unfortunately an eye poke ended the fight. We take a look at what could be next for 'Sugar' after his fight against Munhoz.

5

Cody Garbrandt

O'Malley has been going back and forth with almost everyone at 135-pounds and Garbrandt is no exception. A fight against a former champion will only elevate O'Malley's stock.

4

Cory Sandhagen

Sandhagen is currently booked for a fight against Song in September. However, if he is able to get past him a fight with another brilliant striker in O'Malley would be an epic matchup.

3

Petr Yan

Former champion Petr Yan just fell short in his title challenge against Sterling earlier this year. A fight against O'Malley would be an excellent way to make a case for a third shot at the title.

2

Chito

Chito handed O'Malley his first loss in the UFC which 'Sugar' refuses to accept. A rematch would be the most sensible matchup for O'Malley given where both fighters are in their respective careers at this point in time.

1

Rematch with Pedro

Given how their fight ended, it would not be surprising if the UFC booked them for an immediate rematch. However, O'Malley has not expressed any interest in the same.
