Pulver was the inaugural UFC lightweight champion. He won his belt in February 2001 and defended it twice

Jens Pulver 

Sherk won the vacant belt in October 2006 and defended it once before being de-throned by BJ Penn

Sean Sherk 

BJ Penn became the third UFC lightweight champion in May 2004. He was the first Hawaiian fighter to win UFC gold.

Edgar won the UFC lightweight belt in April 2010. He went on to defend the belt thrice before losing it to Benson Henderson.

Henderson secured a unanimous decision win over Edgar to win UFC gold. He went on to defend the belt three times.

'Showtime' secured a first-round submission win over Henderson to win the lightweight title. He defended the belt once against Gilbert Melendez.

Dos Anjos secured a unanimous decision win over Pettis to win UFC gold at UFC 185. He defended the belt once against Donald Cerrone.

Rafael dos Anjos 

Alvarez was crowned the UFC lightweight champion in July 2016. He lost the belt in his very first title defense against Conor McGregor.

Eddie Alvarez

At UFC 205 Conor McGregor made history when he stopped Eddie Alvarez in round two to become the first simultaneous two-division world champion.

Conor McGregor 

'The Eagle' became the UFC lightweight champion at UFC 223 after beating Iaquinta by unanimous decision. He went on to defend the belt three times.

Khabib Nurmagomedov 

Oliveira became the 11th UFC lightweight champion recently when he stopped Chandler in round two to win UFC gold.
