Notably, NASCAR often takes cars to the R&D team if they feel suspicious. After the Stewart-Haas Racing team received a massive penalty, fans bash NASCAR for their preferential treatment toward Michael Jordan’s team.
Stewart-Haas Racing’s massive fine
Recently, Stewart-Haas Racing received a massive fine after they discovered a counterfeit part in the underwing of Chase Briscoe’s car. This violation, categorized as a Level 3 offense, resulted in a $250,000 fine and a deduction of 120 regular-season points. Moreover, crew chief Johnny Klausmeier was suspended for six weeks as well.
NASCAR’s motives regarding taking cars to R&D
One Twitter user recently presented a fair question regarding NASCAR’s motive behind taking cars to R&D (Research and Development). In reply, renowned NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass said, “NASCAR doesn’t need a reason to take a car back to R&D. Sometimes they are suspicious and sometimes they are not. I don’t get the feeling they thought they would find this on the 14 car.”
Safe to say, fans are not happy with NASCAR giving penalties to other teams but not to 23XI Racing. One user wrote, “I’m surprised they haven’t taken any of the 23XI cars to R&D….” Another fan said, “have they ever took the 23 to r&d center?” One more fan said, “Pre-race inspection in the NASCAR Cup Series garage is complete. The #23 failed twice (car chief was ejected and loss of pit selection).”
