Bubba Wallace's spotter Uses Historic Charlotte Wreck Reference to Claim Chase Elliott Could Have Killed Denny Hamlin

NASCAR

The incident between Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott at Coca-Cola 600 has become the main topic of discussion in the NASCAR world.

Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, is the latest to chime in with his opinion. Speaking about the fatality of the crash, he drew a comparison with a previous incident that took place at Charlotte Motor Speedway back in 2001.

The Hamlin-Elliott crash

In lap 182 at Coca-Cola 600, Hamlin almost pushed Elliott into the fence. In reply, the HMS driver retaliated and intentionally crashed into Hamlin. He took both of them out of the race. He received a 1-race suspension from NASCAR after Hamlin appealed.

In his ‘Door Bumper Clear’ podcast, Kraft said, “It’s completely unacceptable to ever do that… My guy, right or wrong, you cannot… you cannot react that way, you cannot overreact that way. Listen, thank God for the safety improvements we had since 2001 because that was the exact same wreck that killed Blaise Alexander.”

Kraft was referring to the 2001 crash

In 2001, at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Blaise Alexander and Kerry Earnhardt, elder half-brother of Dale Earnhardt Jr. were having a dual on the track. Although it was not intentional, Earnhardt crashed into Alexander from behind, which sent both of them flying. While Earnhardt came out of the crash unscathed, Alexander could not make it.
