A Promising Start

The team's hopes were high as Sam Mayer and Justin Allgaier, two of their own, made it to the final four. "Having half of the drivers in contention for the title from a single team is a huge boost for any team owner," Earnhardt Jr. said.

The Unforeseen Twist

Despite a promising start, the race contrasted for Allgaier, as after an early spin, he found himself sliding through Turns 1 and 2. But Justin fought back, contending for the lead, only to finish third as Cole Custer clinched the championship.

The Pain of Deja Vu

Reflecting on the stinging familiarity of the situation, Earnhardt Jr. expressed, “I saw Allgaier at the end of this race last year. I walked up to him, and man, we were both heartbroken, right? I told him, let’s not do that again. We’re going to win this year.”
