Denny Hamlin Ashamed by NASCAR’s “Broken” HoF as Jimmie Johnson Suffers Jeff Gordon Disgrace
NASCAR
Denny Hamlin, a NASCAR veteran, has expressed his disappointment with NASCAR's Hall of Fame (HoF) after Jimmie Johnson, a seven-time Cup Series champion, was inducted into the Class of 2024 but did not receive a unanimous decision.
Jimmie Johnson's Induction
Johnson received 53 out of the 57 ballot votes, securing only 93% of the votes. This situation is similar to what happened to Jeff Gordon when he was inducted into the Class of 2019, where he secured 96% of the ballot votes but fell short of a unanimous decision.
Hamlin's Reaction
Hamlin took to Twitter to express his frustration with the voting panel's decision, calling it a "joke" and a "disgrace" to one of the sport's greatest ever. He demanded that the panel members who did not vote for Johnson be made public and removed from the voting panel.
Many fans also responded to Hamlin's tweet, echoing his thoughts and calling out NASCAR's erratic voting panel. One fan commented that Jeff Gordon was also not a unanimous decision and that they were "mortified" to be in the voting room. This incident has sparked a debate within the NASCAR community about the transparency and fairness of the Hall of Fame voting process.
