Denny Hamlin's Out-of-the-Box Idea Garners Resounding Approval from Dale Earnhardt Jr and Speedway Motors' CEO

The recently concluded All-Star race at North Wilkesboro Speedway drew plenty of attention from fans, drivers, and experts. While many loved the return of the iconic track, many criticized the track big time.
Denny Hamlin recently heard the rumors about putting dirt on the NWS track. He was very much against the idea and Dale Earnhardt Jr approves of his idea as well.
The return of the iconic NWS track
In 1996 the last race took place at North Wilkesboro Speedway before the 2023 All-Star race. There was a development plan placed in 2021 and Dale Earnhardt Jr. was a big part of the track’s revival. Even North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper contributed 18 million dollars to the project. Finally, the track returned in 2023 for the All-Star race.
Denny Hamlin slams the idea of putting dirt

After hearing a lot of complaints from the drivers, many suggested putting dirt on the track. In his ‘Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin’ podcast, he said, “One thing I don’t want to see, and I heard these rumblings. Do not put dirt on that racetrack.”
In the podcast, he further said, “Simply put, no, don’t do it… You’re making a mistake by doing that. I’m telling you it will lose its short track. I mean… just repave the thing. Let’s fix the surface a little bit, work on the tires, we can make that like, one of the best short tracks that we have.”

Dale Junior loves Hamlin’s idea
After hearing Hamlin’s idea, Dale Jr. took to Twitter and said, “I like this idea.” Even Speedway Motorsports CEO Marcus Smith also approved Hamlin’s idea.
