The New Rule

NASCAR has introduced a significant change to its qualification model for the 2024 season. The fastest drivers from Groups A and B remain unaffected. However, the starting positions for drivers placed 11-40 will now be determined differently. The only exception to this rule is the Daytona 500, which retains its unique qualifiers.

The Superspeedway Exception

For superspeedways, the group system is discarded. Instead, two rounds of qualification races will take place. The top 10 drivers from the first round advance and the best time from Round 2 claims the pole position.

The Fans React

The NASCAR Community Was Quick To Voice Their Discontent Online. One Fan Lamented, "You have basically stolen the weekend from race fans." The Changes, Made In Response To Industry Feedback And Varying Track Conditions, Have Left Fans Feeling Sidelined In A Sport They Hold Dear.
