Jeff Gordon's Take on Denny Hamlin's "Villain" Persona
NASCAR
NASCAR's Denny Hamlin, the driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, has been making waves with his "villain" persona. However, Jeff Gordon, vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports, has a different perspective.
Hamlin's Rise to Notoriety
Hamlin has gained attention in the NASCAR world, particularly after his aggressive move against Kyle Larson at Pocono. This move secured his 7th win at the Tricky Triangle and Toyota's 600th. Despite the controversy, Hamlin embraces his new "villain" role.
Gordon's Perspective
Jeff Gordon, a sports legend and vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports, acknowledges Hamlin's strategy. He said, "The fact that he is embracing that, I’ll give him kudos all day long. Go for it." However, he doesn't want his drivers to follow suit.
Gordon prefers his drivers to build their fan base through their victories rather than controversies. He stated, "It’s too controversial. To me, it’s a distraction. I want our drivers to go and build a fan base by winning races and being themselves."
