5-Time NBA All-Star and Former Cup Champ Warns Chase Elliott and Co. After Being Outperformed by an Outsider

In the recently concluded Chicago Race, Kiwi driver Shane Van Gisbergen shocked everyone by winning the much-anticipated race.

Meanwhile, former Cup Series champion, Dale Jarrett and 5-time NBA All-Star Brad Daugherty recently gave a warning to Chase Elliott and other drivers after Van Gisbergen won the Chicago race.

Shane Van Gisbergen’s amazing race in Chicago

The 3-time Australian Supercars champion got into the Chicago race through Trackhouse Racing’s Project 91 program. He started the race in 18th place. However, he adapted to the rainy street racing conditions really well. In the final few laps, he showed his tremendous skills on the track, as he overtook Justin Haley to win the race. Also, he became the first debutant to win a race in 60 years.

Former Cup Series champion talks about Van Gisbergen

The 1999 Cup Series Champion and current NBC anchor, Dale Jarrett said, “The talent that he has and being able to do this, he didn’t put a mark on his car, drove through the field, it was just an amazing performance and I think that he showed the drivers that are in this series full-time that they’re going to have to work on their road racing skills if he’s going to show up anymore.”

5X NBA All-Star Brad Daugherty recently said, “We didn’t expect this. We thought, I thought, Chase Elliott was going to win this, right? I thought, you know. Rick … Christopher Bell was going to win… And this young man came in and did. He took it to our guys and it’s exciting because it’s new and it shows it can be done. Who’s coming next?”
