Looking Back at The Sneakers Michael Jordan Donned En route to His Six NBA Championships

















Michael Jordan's incredible career has been the topic of many documentaries over the years. While they mostly focus on certain moments that made or broke his career, but fans sitting at home can't help but reminisce those exact moments along with what was on MJ's feet at the time. 

So, let's take a quick look at the sneakers that Jordan was wearing while winning six NBA championships.

Nike Air Jordan 6- first nba championship (1991)

Designed by Tinker Hatfield and released in 1991, Jordan won his first NBA title with Air Jordan 6. This is the most iconic of the Jordan range. He wore the "Black Infrared" colorway of the Jordan 6 as he averaged 31.2 points, 11.4 assists, and 6.6 rebounds per game in the finals.

Nike Air Jordan 7- Second NBA championship (1992)

During the 1992 NBA playoffs, Jordan laced up in the "Black/True Red" Air Jordan 7. It was in this year that he established himself as a global superstar and added his name to the GOAT discussions. 1992 was big for MJ, who won his second straight NBA title, won regular season and finals MVP, and also led Team USA to a gold medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.

Nike Air Jordan 8- Third NBA championship (1993)

Jordan 7s made MJ a worldwide icon, but the 8s made him untouchable after winning his third NBA championship in a row. The Chicago Bulls became only the third team in the league's history to win three titles straight, but MJ was the first-ever player to win Finals MVP in each of the three titles runs. He wore the Black and Red Jordan 8s at the time.

Nike Air Jordan 11- fourth NBA championship (1996) 

When MJ returned after his first retirement halfway through the 1994/95 season, he was wearing the Jordan 10s until he was shown the final design of the 11s.  Nike had not even permitted him to wear them but Jordan was so impressed by it but he couldn't help it and won his fourth title wearing them.

Nike Air Jordan 12- fifth NBA championship (1997)

The 1996-97 season and the Air Jordan 12s that MJ wore during the NBA Finals that year, gave fans one of the most historic performances of Jordan: The Flu Game.  Despite the high fever, Jordan went all out against the Utah Jazz and scored 38 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists. He wore the black and red Air Jordan 12s.

Nike Air Jordan 14: sixth NBA championship (1998)

Jordan began the 1998 finals series against the Jazz, wearing that season's signature sneaker, AJ13, before switching to an early Air Jordan 14 prototype for Game 3. Given to him by Hatfield, he was told not to wear them but he did anyway.  He wore them through Game's 4 to 6, as well as scoring the famous "Last Shot" with them.
