“Not Something I Expect” – Wrexham Superstar Paul Mullin Divulges on ‘Unbelievable Achievement’ as He Chases 89 Year Old Record

START EXPLORING

Celebrations by Wrexham AFC for the club promotion have been wild so far and the star striker is about to break the all-time goal-scoring record. But can he do it? The player arrived at the Racecourse Ground back in the summer of 2021, and since then, he has been firing goals for the Red Dragons.
Talking about Mullin, the striker is also an ambassador for the Wrexham-based charity 'Your Space'. So far, the Welsh strike has netted 43 goals. However, it seems the player is close to breaking another record of Wrexham’s former club legend, Tommy Bamford.

On the back of league-topping performances from Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer, Wrexham has climbed the ladder to the tabletop. While Paul Mullin is the key part of this roaster, fans are wondering why the mercurial striker isn’t playing for the national team of Wales.

Mullin has already surpassed the 40-goal mark after he recently bagged a hat trick against Oldham Athletic. However, it seems the striker has a chance to break yet another record for Bamford, as he is close to the 45-goal mark. The striker is just two goals short of breaking the second record of the club legend. With just six games left, he can surely achieve that number and break the 89-year-old record.

In a recent talk, mullin shared his thoughts and emotions on what he feels like about his chances of playing international soccer.

Paul Mullin this season has scored 43 goals for Wrexham across a couple of tournaments. He is just 8 goals behind in being the all-time highest scorer in a single season for the club. The current record belongs to Tommy Bamford, who set it in 1933-34. : "It would be the biggest achievement of my life but I don’t expect it to come, although I would for love it to come".

Mullin said, “It’s not something I think about and it’s not something I expect to happen"

Paul continued "Obviously, it would be lovely if it did happen but it’s not something I expect, it’s not something I think will happen. But you never know in football. All I can do is go and play football and enjoy it, score as many goals as I can, and win as many games as I can.”

The Red Dragons will also tour the US to play pre-season friendly against Manchester United and Chelsea.  Paul Mullin said, “If I do get called up, obviously it would be an unbelievable achievement and I would be over the moon." Clearly, international soccer has a special place in his heart.
