The competitive nature of the sport of MMA has made several teammates turned into rivals, especially in the UFC. Here, we take a look at the brief history between Ciryl Gane and Francis Ngannou.
When Ngannou was 26-year-old, he and Gane used to share the same MMA gym and coaches, namely Fernando Lopez, at the MMA Factory in Paris, France.
The pair were former sparring partners at the MMA Factory training center. There are a few footages available on the internet where the duo can be seen training together.
After few years, 'The Predator' left the MMA Factory and moved to the United States, where he joined the Xtream Couture MMA training center.
At UFC 260 on March 27, 2021, 'The Predator' defeated Stipe Miocic via a second-round KO to become the UFC heavyweight champion.
At UFC 265 on August 7, 2021, 'Bon Gamin' defeated Derrick Lewis via TKO in the third round and became the new UFC interim heavyweight champion.
As Gane is now the current UFC interim heavyweight champion, and Ngannou is the current undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, the former teammates will clash for a title unification bout in the near future.
