After releasing the current champion Francis Ngannou from his contract, White has taken in Jones. White also shared about the failed contract negotiation between the UFC and Ngannou.

Failed Contract with Ngannou

According to White, the UFC offered Ngannou a groundbreaking deal that would have made him the highest-paid heavyweight in the history of the promotion, but Ngannou stepped back.

The UFC president also compared the contract salary with that of Brock Lesnar and another legendary fighter named Fedor Emelianenko and how Ngannou still couldn't agree upon it. Jon Jones is now the highest-paid heavyweight athlete.
