“Test Them Before They Get an IV”: Joe Rogan Weighs In on the Controversy That Rocked Islam Makhachev & Khabib’s Camp

The UFC color commentator Joe Rogan with his no-filter approach took another hot topic to share his insights on. What is that about? Let's find out.

The sport of MMA requires a lot, from training camps to making weight before their fight that decides the fate of their fight. However, the drill has been pretty hard for the ‘Team Khabib’ when it comes to weigh-ins.

What?

Islam Makhachev has been at the core of controversy with accusations of cheating during his fight with Alexander Volkanovski by using an IV. The subject was met with great interest by Joe Rogan and Jorge Masvidal during a podcast.

What is the Issue?

During episode #137 of the JRE MMA Show, Rogan sat down with Jorge Masvidal and talked about the subject of drug testing the UFC fighters.

What Did Rogan Do?

Rogan said, “I think it’s good that the UFC did something[about testing], but I think, ultimately, what they did is a little bit of overkill. And it just like, particularly the IVs for rehydration. I just don’t- I know that they’re saying that it can mask performance-enhancing drugs.”

Rogan offered an alternative and said, “They should outlaw weight-cutting. They should figure out a way, where fighters fight at their natural.” He continued, “Make more weight classes, and have fighters fight at their natural weight.”
