Top 5 UFC Hype Trains That Didn't Last Long

Living up to the hype train is not an easy task to achieve. However, several fighters managed to live up to their hype while some failed. Here, we take a look at the top 5 hype trains that didn't last long.

Ben Askren

People were expecting a lot from the longest-reigning welterweight champion of ONE FC and Bellator. However, the hype was destroyed in pieces after Askren ended up being a victim of the fastest KO in UFC history (5s). Askren has a terrible UFC record of 1-2.

Gilbert Melendez

The hype train was huge for Gilbert Melendez as he joined the UFC as a two-time Strikeforce champion and a former WEC champion. However, his career took a dive, and he went on a terrible five-fight losing streak. 'El Nino' has one of the worst UFC records of 1-6.

Mirko Cro Cop

As a former K-1 champion, UFC fans expected to see nothing but high kick KOs from Cro Cop. However, he left his best days and fights in Pride FC and was never able to show what he was capable of to the UFC fans.

Mike Perry

Mike Perry joined the UFC with an undefeated professional MMA record of 7-0. However, he lost his third fight in the UFC and then went on losing seven more fights. Now, 'Platinum' has an awful UFC record of 7-8.

CM Punk

The hype train was huge for the former WWE champion CM Punk. However, he failed miserably as he only had two fights in the UFC and lost both of them.
