A Quick Look at the Genesis of the Bodybuilder Who Received the Title ‘Uncrowned’ Mr. Olympia

Bodybuilding as a sport became an altogether different monster in the 90s. The 70s and the 80s were dominated by smaller waists and aesthetic physiques whereas the 90s indicated the dawn of the mass era. The 90s began the era of being as big as possible along with being shredded. It was dominated by famous personalities like Dorian Yates, Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler, Kevin Levrone, Ronnie Coleman, and the likes. 

Who was that 'uncrowned' Mr. Olympia?

He was Nasser El Sonbaty AKA 'The Professor', an IFBB pro who participated in 53 pro competitions always being placed very high in the rankings.

Nasser El Sonbaty used to almost always place in the top 5, the 1997 Olympia was his best performance and almost everyone who has seen clippings of that show believes that he was the more deserving athlete to win the coveted Sandow. The professor really brought it to the stage that day and hands down beat the existing champ and the winner of that show, Dorian Yates. 

Professor Died Due To Kidney Failure

The professor lost his life in the March of 2013 due to kidney failure and heart complications at the young age of 47. He needed a heart transplant and could not get the same on time and died due to multiple complications.
