Even fighters need a time-out!

When everybody’s sleeping, I'm still thinking and working.

The movie was a blend of action and comedy, and Chan performed many of his own stunts. During one scene, Chan had to jump from a wall onto a tree branch.

While Chan shot the scene without any problems, but he wasn’t happy with the first attempt and wanted to try again

“My collaborator thought we got the shot and could move on. I disagreed. I insisted on one more take”, he recalled in his autobiography. However, the branches had gotten weak after the series of pressure put on them.

On the third attempt when Jackie Chan jumped, the branch broke

Chan fell over 15 feet to the ground below. He hit his head on a rock, which caused a skull fracture and severe bleeding in his brain. In his autobiography, Never Grow Up, the martial art icon wrote, “I had no sense of time passing. I tried to sit up, but everyone held me down”

“They were terrified that I was about to die,” Chan recalled

In a barely conscious state, he was taken to the hospital. Later, he learned that a piece of bone had become lodged inside his brain as a result of a portion of his skull partially collapsing. The doctors had to remove a piece of his fragmented bone to relieve the pressure on his brain.
