Video games that broke the sales record

These are the games which broke all the records and came up to the position of fastest selling games of all time. The day they were launched they were already welcomed by everyone and eagerly awaited. These are the games which sold out quickly.


Within 24 hours, GTA V had made $800 million, by selling around 11 million copies. The game took only three days to make $1 billion, making it the fastest-selling entertainment product in history.

The Destiny series has certainly remained controversial since its release in September 2014. According to Activision, Destiny shipped $500 million worth of games in just 24 hours. They even claim this to be the most successful IP. 



By the following month of its launch, ten million copies had been shipped to retailers, generating a revenue of $620 million and becoming Steam’s fastest-selling game of all time. 


Black Ops 3

Black Ops III shattered expectations by grossing $550 million in its first three days. Activision also said this one to have the highest “engagement per player” in Call of Duty history.

Diablo 3

Diablo III was breaking records even before its official release, as it was reported that Diablo III had become the most pre-ordered PC title on Amazon. Activision Blizzard noted that Diablo III had become the best-selling day one PC release of all time, selling 3.5 million units.

Halo 3

Halo 3 beat both the records of Halo and Halo 2 in just 24 hours. Two months after release, it had sold five million copies, making it the best-selling game of the year.

The first Pokémon game was released in Japan in 1996 and in North America in September 1998. The game sold over four million units in its first weekend alone, making it the fastest-selling 3DS title, beating Black & White 2’s initial sales by 70%.
