‘Tennis Is Secondary’ – Mother’s Stringer Rule Once to a Home-Schooled Coco Gauff About Education Amidst Huge Fan Love

American tennis star Coco Gauff is rising rapidly as the flag-bearer of the future generation on the WTA Tour. Moreover, she is also becoming the next big thing in US women’s tennis. While the 18-year-old was the hottest property on the Tour in 2019, her mother believed that she needed to give equal priority to another important part of life. Even though Gauff beat some legendary players on the Tour that year, she always paid importance to her education. The reason behind it is her mother, Candi Gauff, who believes that education is the most important thing in anyone’s life and has always taught her daughter the same.

Candi Gauff on the importance of education.

One can be a very successful person even without proper formal education. However, the Gauff family does not want their daughter to go that way. Because Candi Gauff believes that education is very important. With time and her rise in tennis, it has become increasingly difficult for the tennis star to keep up with her studies.

In 2019, her mother believed that the 18-year-old will definitely find a way to manage it.

“It is becoming a little more challenging, but she knows it’s one of the jobs she has to do,” Candi said.

She had more to add.

She further added, “Tennis is secondary, being a student is first.”

Coco Gauff falters in the end after a great year.

If we have a look at Gauff’s 2022 season, she had a great time on the WTA Tour. She climbed up in the rankings as high as world number four. She reached her first Grand Slam final and made it to the quarterfinals of the US Open. However, at the end of the season, she lost five consecutive matches. Three of these came in the WTA Finals held in Texas.
