Suresh Raina Turns 33 Today, Wishes Pour In For Him

As Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has celebrated his 33rd birthday on Wednesday, cricket fraternity took to Twitter to wish him. He has featured in 226 One Day Internationals (ODIs) so far. Suresh Raina had last donned the blue jersey earlier in July, this year for an ODI match against England.

He has played 18 Tests and 18 T20Is so far and has more than 8,000 International runs to his name. Raina is the only Indian batsman to have scored centuries in both ODI and T20I World Cups. He has smashed 189 sixes in the IPL and is on the fifth place in the list of batsmen with the most number of sixes in the tournament.

However, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) however took to Twitter and wished him on his birthday. While Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) also wished Suresh Raina, who has been one of their key players over the years.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also posted his old picture with Raina on Twitter and wished him on his birthday. Another former player Virender Sehwag wished Suresh Raina with a song and wrote, “Listening to “Raina Beeti Jaaye” , Shaam na aaaaaye. Same happens when Raina is in full flow with the bat, feel like shaam na aaye. Wish you luck and happiness.”

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, Raina took a sensational one-handed catch while playing for Uttar Pradesh against Odisha. While fielding at first slip, he dived to his left to take the catch after Sujit Lenka tried to defend the ball from Saurabh Kumar but got an outside edge to it.

After Suresh Raina took the stunner, the entire Uttar Pradesh team applauded him for his effort. He later posted the video of the catch on Instagram with the caption, “Idhar chala mai, udhar chala! Jane kahan mai kidhar chala…. are fisal gayaaaaaaa … par catch to le liya..Had a good day at the match today… lets gear up for tomorrow!”
