Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya Biography

Hardik Pandya is easily recognisable with his tattoos and blonde streaks in his hair. The all-rounder was first noticed in the cricket circles, courtesy the Indian Premier League.

Hardik Pandya possesses a swashbuckling ability to strike the ball hard. Add to that, exceptional fielding, and clever bowling, and that encapsulates him. He can withstand pressure and excels in crunch time.

Hardik Pandya played a crucial role in the Mumbai Indians’ second title win. He was even touted as the first fast-bowling all-rounder since Kapil Dev.

His all-round skills caught several eyeballs during the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament. Hardik Pandya was soon rewarded handsomely, namely a berth in India’s ODI squad against New Zealand in 2016.

The all-rounder provides a sense of balance to the side. After a difficult 2018, Pandya has matured a little. However, he undid all that when he was the subject of controversy. Pandya and teammate KL Rahul, were called out for misogynistic comments. The two were promptly suspended by the BCCI for poor conduct and tarnishing the image of Indian cricket.

IPL Career

Hardik Pandya made his IPL debut in 2015 with the Mumbai Indians. The 25-year old has remained with the side ever since and also became a favourite of coach Ricky Ponting. In his maiden IPL game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he smashed a six in just his second ball. He soon carved a name for himself when he guided Mumbai to victory against CSK when they needed 30 from 2 overs.

IPL 2019 Expectations

Now, in IPL 2019, he enters into his fifth season with the Mumbai Indians. Pandya is recognised as one of the vital cogs that is keeping the well-oiled machine running smoothly.
