A beneficiary of England’s revamp after the 2015 World Cup, Jason Jonathan Roy is one of the most flamboyant opening batsmen in World Cricket right now. Eoin Morgan’s decision to play an aggressive brand of fearless cricket opened up Jason Roy.
Born in South Africa, Jason Roy had to move to England with his family when he was 10 years old.
He is largely a limited overs cricketer for England. He made his T20I debut in 2014, and a year later, he made his ODI debut for England.
Jason Roy is the first batsman to give his wicket by ‘obstructing the field’ in T20 internationals.
In the latest ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019, he played an important part in England’s winning campaign. Roy, along with Jonny Bairstow made sure England were off to a good start. Roy made a match winning 85 in the World Cup semi-finals against Australia.
He plays for Surrey in County cricket. In IPL, Roy played three games for Gujrat Lions before joining Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). He has also played in many different leagues all over the world.
