Krishnappa Gowtham Biography

Like his teammate Shreyas Gopal, Krishnappa Gowtham, is an all-rounder hailing from Karnataka. His bowling style consists of offspin and he is an allrounder.

Krishnappa Gowtham’s IPL career was largely responsible for his ability as a T20 specialist. However, in 2016  managed to find his way back into Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy side. In his opening three matches, Krishnappa Gowtham snagged 18 wickets.

However, his resumé is far from squeaky clean, as he has been involved in some controversy. As it turned out, he took leave from the 2017 Duleep Trophy, owing to illness. But, oddly enough he played in the Karnataka Premier League a few days later. Needless to say, the BCCI were not amused and pulled him out of the squad.

IPL Career

As a result of his consistency, he found himself occupying an India A team berth in 2017. As an added bonus, he got a massive paycheck during the 2018 IPL auction. The lucky winners were the Rajasthan Royals for and astonishing 6.2 crore.

Krishnappa Gowtham’s IPL stint has been with the Rajasthan Royals since last year. Gowtham repaid the faith and gigantic paycheck with both bat and ball in crunch situations. Courtesy his efforts, the Royals were able to see out close matches to the finish.

IPL 2019 Expectations

This is Krishnappa Gowtham’s second season in IPL and he is an excellent player. In terms of Krishnappa Gowtham’s stats, he picked up 11 wickets in his debut season, impressing right away.

Krishnappa Gowtham’s IPL record is fairly great and the 30-year old has an average economy of 7.71. As a bowler, his best figures are 2/12 and as a batsman, his highest score is an unbeaten 33*.

The Rajasthan Royals will be riding on his coattails to help guide them to a second IPL title.
