Miroslava?"Mirka"?Federer is popularly known as Mirka Federer (nee?Vavrinec) is a Swiss former professional?tennis?player. She reached her career-high ranking of World Number 76 and she is the better half of Switzerland's legendary tennis player, Roger Federer.

The 42-year-old called off her tennis career in 2002 due to a persistent foot injury while she was ranked inside the top-100 rankings.

Early Life

Mirka Federer was born in Czechoslovakia and later her parents emigrated to Switzerland when she was two years old. She held her tennis racquet at the age of nine. Her first tennis racquet was gifted by Martina Navratilova.

In 2001, she reached the third round of the US Open 2001 and that was her best performance in Grand Slams. She has claimed 3 ITF titles and played all four Grand Slam events from 1999 to 2001. She has also won 1 ITF title in doubles.

In 2002, Mirka partnered Roger Federer for the Hopman Cup in Australia.

Roger and Mirka met each other during the Sydney Olympics in 2000. They got married in April 2009 at Wenkenhof Villa in?Riehen near Basel, Switzerland. That year Federer also pulled off his Career Slam by clinching the French Open 2009 title.
