Nitish Rana Biography
Nitish Rana had not had the best of careers on an international level. In fact, his career nearly went down in the dumps. It was only the thanks to the IPL that he managed to stay afloat.
Nitish Rana is primarily a left-handed batsman and served as a valuable asset for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The cash-rich league has been serving as a launchpad for several youth careers and Delhi batsman Nitish Rana is one of them. He endured an average run during the 2016-17 Ranji season, scoring 404 runs in 8 games. Even the Vijay Hazare Trophy did him no favours, especially in the wake of three poor runs.
The following domestic season was much kinder for him, racking up 613 runs in 8 games. His batting average was at 55.72 during that season and he was rewarded by a call-up to the Kolkata Knight Riders ranks.
The Mumbai Indians gave Nitish Rana the perfect springboard to make a name for himself in 2015. Sadly, in a team that was chock-o-bloc with talent, opportunities for Rana were scarce. In 2016, he made occasional cameos but 2017 was when he really came into his own.
A new Nitish Rana turned up after his dismal domestic campaigns. His batting form picked up like a car accelerating from 0 to 100. Nitish Rana managed to pull off a series of match-winning scores in the early part of the season.
Those performances provided the perfect backbone for the Mumbai Indians to kick-start their campaign, culminating in winning the whole shot. Though his form dropped off and he was replaced in the squad, his career got the adrenaline shot that it needed. Ever since he was recruited by the Kolkata Knight Riders, he has been a valued member.
IPL 2019 Expectations
Nitish Rana enters IPL 2019 with the Knight Riders once again. They will be hoping that his signature blistering starts continue. Also, KKR will be eager to see if he can maintain his form throughout and not taper off towards the end,
