Prithvi Shaw Biography
Prithvi Shaw is another one of the Indian youth stars. His laurels include captaining the Indian team in the U-19 World Cup. The 19-year old went one better and clinched the title for the 4th time. His talent is such that he has even drawn comparisons with the Legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
In August 2018, he was given the maiden national call up to the Indian Test squad. However, he did not make an appearance at all. He made his official Test debut against West Indies on 4 October 2018. Over there, he notched up his maiden Test century and created a record, one of many. Among the Prithvi Shaw records is, youngest Indian batsman to make a Test century on debut. Shaw was 18 years and 329 days at the time. The Men in Blue went on to win the second Test by ten wickets, with Shaw as the Player of the Series.
In January 2018, he was roped into the Delhi Daredevils in the 2018 IPL auction for 1.2 crores. In April 2018, Shaw set yet another record, the youngest player to open the batting in IPL history. He was 18 years and 165 days old at the time. Prithvi Shaw’s batting prowess was also seen when he scored 22 runs in 10 balls on debut.
Four day later, Shaw racked up his first IPL fifty, becoming the joint youngest player to score an IPL fifty shared with Sanju Samson. His 62 run knock aided Delhi Daredevils in securing a 55-run victory against KKR.
