Shimron Hetmyer

Shimron Hetmyer Biography

Shimron Hetmyer has a fairly impressive resume, having won the U-19 World Cup back in 2016. His love for cricket began at the age of 11 and he has never been any happier.

Shimron Hetmyer had his first tryst with the national team at the Under-19 World Cup in 2014. However, his performance then, was less than spectacular, only squeezing out three single digit scores in five games. His first class debut went along a similar vein, with paltry scores of 0 and 4 against Trinidad and Tobago.

However, fortune soon smiled down on him once again and he needed no second invitation. This time, it was the 2016 the under-19 World Cup and he was the skipper. Shimron Hetmyer repaid whichever god that gave him a second chance, with half centuries in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. It wasn’t long before the U-19 Windies stormed to the silverware.

Shimron Hetmyer is primarily known as an attacking and destructive opener. His skill was enough to earn a nod in the Carribean Premier League for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2016. But once again he flopped and was dismissed for a duck. To make matters even more embarrassing, it was the only game that he played.

He was picked by the West Indies in April 2017 for a three-match Test series against Pakistan. Once more, he misfired and failed to convert his fast starts. Against New Zealand later in the year, it was much of the same story his starts failing him.

On the ODIs and T20I front, it was deja vu and Shimron Hetmyer failed to deliver. He only amassed a handful of runs and was far from spectacular. Shimron Hetmyer displayed flashes of his talent, courtesy a ton against UAE in the World Cup qualifiers. However, his conversion issue came back to haunt him once more during the rest of the qualifiers.

IPL Career

IPL 2019 will be Shimron Hetmyer’s IPL debut and evidently, RCB saw something in him. Inspite of his frequent misfiring, the Royal Challenger Bangalore are confident that he can put all that behind him and propel them forward.

IPL 2019 Expectations

The Royal Challengers Bangalore enter IPL 2019 with a lot of pressure on their heads. After years of missing out, they are eager to clinch a maiden IPL title. The big question is, can Shimron Hetmyer put aside his inconsistent form and deliver where it counts?
