Tomas Berdych, the Czech player is one of the rare players on the ATP Tour who could cause the regular upsets to the 'Big Four'. He is the man of all courts.

Berdych, who is 6ft 5 in height, is one of the three players with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Stan Wawrinka, to defeat the 'Big Four' in major events. Berdych retired from professional tennis in 2019 at the age of 34.

He reached a career-high singles ranking of No.4 on the ATP leaderboards in May 2015. Former Czech player, Martin Stepanek was the coach of Tomas Berdych.

He has previously worked with four other coaches. He previously dated tennis pro, Lucie Safarova until 2011, before meeting his wife, Ester Satorova. The pair got married in July 2015. 

On-court Achievements

Tomas Berdych has the most notable achievement of reaching the final of the 2010 Wimbledon Championships. He captured 13 ATP titles in his career, with his biggest career win coming at the Paris Masters in 2005 as an unseeded player. Berdych also won three titles in Stockholm.

Berdych reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slams. The Czech has also been a part of the Davis Cup-winning team in 2012 and 2013.

He also played the longest ATP doubles match ever, partnering with Lukas Rosol, defeating Marco Chiudinelli and Stan Wawrinka in the first round of the 2013 Davis Cup 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–7, 24–22. The match lasted for 7 hours and 2 minutes.

He is the second player after David Nalbandian to defeat Roger Federer multiple times in grand slam tournaments before the semifinal stage.

Tomas Berdych announced his retirement from tennis at the Nitto ATP Finals 2019.

In 2013, the Czech also signed a partnership with the Swedish fashion house, H&M after his contract with Nike ended. In 2016, Tomas Berdych was endorsed by Adidas. He also launched his first watch from Felio Siby. Berdych moved to the Italian company, Hydrogen (fourth in his career) as his new clothing sponsor. In 2017, he also signed a deal with Ebix.

Currently, he also has an endorsement deal with BMW and X production.

Foundation and charity

Berdych started the Tomas Berdych Foundation a few years ago, with the aim of providing sports development activities for children and adults.
