Varun Chakravarthy Biography
Varun Chakravarthy is a bowler hailing from Karnataka. He has played for teams like Karaikudi Kaalai and the Tamil Nadu team. Chakravarthy has experience playing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
He has represented Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in the 2018-19 season. It is said that his bowling action resembles that of Sri Lankan mystery spinner, Ajanta Mendis.
Varun Chakravarthy primarily bowled as a medium pacer after changing from wicketkeeping. But then, injury struck and after his recovery, he adapted his bowling action to that of spin.
This will be Varun Chakravarthy’s maiden tryst in the IPL. He was snapped up by the Kings XI Punjab for 8.4 crores. So far, he has made an appearance in one match where he bagged a wicket, conceding 35 runs.
Varun Chakravarthy actually set a KXIP record as the most expensive player.
Interestingly, Chakravarthy isn’t completely unfamiliar with the IPL. This is because he has trained with the Kolkata Knight Riders at their nets in 2017.

After his IPL net session with KKR, he tailored his action accordingly and added new dimensions to his bowling. As a result, he became a highly sought after player in the 2018 TNPL auction. Varun Chakravarthy was soon rewarded when he became the first pick for the Siechem Madurai Panthers.
With the Panthers, he claimed 9 wickets and had an incredible economy of 4.7. In addition to that, he had a dot ball percentage of 52.08.
In the final, Varun Chakravarthy had amazing figures of 4-1-9-2. This made him one of the unsung heroes behind Madurai’s winning triumph.
