The two young competitors, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas, have claimed the biggest title of their careers on London’s hardcourt at the ATP Finals. Also, both of them made it to the semi-finals of the Australian Open, which accounts for their best run at a Slam.

As of now, the pair shares this common career-best performance. But Sascha believes, in terms of achievements, he holds the upper-hand when compared to Stefanos. Objectively, he outshines him in certain aspects.

“The semi-finals in a Grand Slam tournament and the victory in the ATP Finals are the only two things we have in common. I also won three titles in ATP Masters 1000 tournaments and reached two other Grand Slam quarter-finals,” Alexander Zverev said.

The German lad has won two Masters ATP 1000 titles on clay and the Canadian Open. Also, he reached the finals in Shanghai last year. Besides that, he’s a two-time quarterfinalist at Roland Garros.

“I have much more finals and semi-finals in Masters tournaments. But he plays incredibly well. Last year was something of a breakthrough when it hit the top ten for the first time. I have always said that the first year is easier than the second,” he added.

In 2017, Zverev was successful in attaining the world ranking of number three, and Tsitsipas’ highest-ranking stretches to number five. But when it comes to their head-to-head encounters, the Greek lad has defeated Sascha five out the six times they have locked-horns on the ATP courts.

“I ended 2017 and 2018 in fourth place in the world ranking. And then found out that it is becoming increasingly difficult to hold this position. Everyone has to find out for themselves how to do what. He is good enough to do it. But everyone will need their time for this.”

The Greek gun, Tsitsipas, was successful in beating the two-time defending champion Roger Federer at Australian Open 2019, and Zverev is yet to beat a ‘Big Three’ contestant at a Slam.
